When and how did you get started with us?
January 2016. I had never done any type of Crossfit or Olympic lifting prior to that. I was looking for something that would produce better results than the workouts I had done previously.
Inveniam was located close to the office I worked out of at the time and had a shower. I walked in to check it out and talked with Marcus. He kind-of sounded like he knew what he was talking about so I signed up.
Anything that involves the basics; push ups, sit ups, pull ups, running. My favorite is probably Cindy
Least favorite workout?
Anything with that miserable airbike. "The devil's tricycle" as I've heard it called,is an accurate description I think.
What’s the best part about doing CrossFit?
Definitely the need for perseverance. You have to keep going and dig deep in many of the workouts. The clock doesn't stop for you and the reps don't go away unless you do them. Finishing a miserable workout that you went all out on is a great sense of accomplishment.
That and my wife says my butt looks better in my jeans from all them squats!
What’s the wallpaper on your phone right now?
Chicago Bears wallpaper all the time! I have to keep up the faith that one year we'll win another Super Bowl.
What’s the first concert you ever attended?
A 60's revival concert when i was 14 back in Chicago. They had what was left of The Doors playing and groups like Steppenwolf. The music was good but the atmosphere was awesome. I was hooked after that and went to a ton of concerts throughout high school.
What’s your favorite comic book character?
Batman hands down. He holds his own against villains with superpowers and mutant abilities and all he has are cool gadgets.
What’s the last thing you searched for on Google?
I just bought a project boat so I've been avidly searching all things boat related to get ready for the warm weather.
What’s the best cheat meal you had lately?
I had some awesome gyros recently. They're a combination of a bunch of different meats and spices on a pita. Its like a Greek hot dog in that sense and they are delicious. Horrible for you, but delicious.
If you could be a mix of any two animals what would you be and why?
I'd want to be smart and a good problem solver so I think I would want the brain of a killer whale. You would also need the strength to pursue your smart actions so I would also want the strength and power of a rhino. If you think about it once a rhino gets moving in a direction nothing really stops it things just get out of the way.
What’s with the orange cup?
A few years ago I just got tired of carrying around both a mug for my morning coffee and a water bottle so I started using the cup to handle both. I've got few cups now that I rotate out.
There are downsides to the orange cup on occasion. A few months ago I was at the gym stretching out and Boss came by and dropped his slobbery ball right into my cup of water. Aside from that, a little chalk dust never killed anybody.
Anything you want to say?
The test of character is not "hanging in there" when you expect a light at the end of the tunnel, but performance of duty and persistence of example when you know that no light is coming.
